Several years ago I first heard of freelancing, and I did my research into the industry. Finding out what is really going on in the digital marketing world. I then decided that if I wanted to own my own business and in no way am I going to be an employee then freelancing was the way to go.
Let me put it out there now…in business you will not want to be an employee. You cannot be an employee no matter how much work and responsibility you are given. However, we have many benefits in our society that cannot be at an employee.
If you are a freelancer, you would not get sick sick but you would get sick. An example of the health benefits would be having your own car. Every time you got sick the owner of your car would rent you a new car. You can be a freelancer because all you have to worry about is being well and getting up on time.
In business, if you have a strong team, they will be able to follow your lead and not overstep their boundaries and just go off the beaten path. They will not interrupt any of your work and you will feel respected. In business, you will also enjoy your management role at some point. You can be a writer, a digital artist, a graphic designer, or an individual digital content creator.
The Benefits of Freelancing
The best thing about freelancing is that you get to be your own boss. That is an opportunity that most people lack. Don’t say you don’t like it. It can be your passport to be able to make a business of your own.
Freelancing is an opportunity to help yourself. You can do it for yourself, you can find people who would be interested in your content and giving you money for your work and you can also publish that content yourself and people will be interested in what you are doing. By doing it yourself, you are controlling your own destiny.
The best thing about freelancing is that you can start out as an independent and gain business experience. Once you reach a certain level of business experience, companies will hire you and their success will be more what you are after.
You can also do it in a team way. I do it in a team with my husband. My husband is a graphic designer. My son is also an artist and I’m a graphic designer. Your eldest can take over as your graphic designer, but what is really great is that your kids can be doing so many different things and it is great to have four or five young people.
The Opportunities for Freelancers
So let’s take a look at the opportunities for freelancers. Start off as a writer. Write with Google’s excellent editing and formatting tools. This would be an absolute selling point. That is an opportunity to earn a lot of money doing something that you already know.
On the other hand, a graphic designer is a highly demanding job. You are expected to have excellent communication skills. Every job can be a lot of work, but that is the perfect situation for freelance. You are getting work but not working full time full time time time. You have more time for your family and therefore giving you more time for your hobbies and things you do outside of work.
Choosing what work to do is what matters most. First choose your role and leave it at that. If you enjoy your job then that’s great, but if you are not enjoying your job, you need to figure out why you are not enjoying your job. I will mention some of the challenges of freelancing, but before I get into those, here are my criteria for building an online presence and posting content on blogs. I do have an online presence now, but I will address it a bit later.
Focusing on your audience will do wonders. When your audience is in it with you, it is easier to get them interested and motivated. Then, once your target audience finds out about your brand, the target audience will feel the need to check out your website and listen to your podcasts.
So overall, being a freelance blogger is not what I would call challenging and hard work is not all there is to freelance.
If you want to build a profitable business and be your own boss then freelancing is your ticket. No matter what you do, you are in charge. Your success will be determined by yourself. Being able to manage your own business will give you more freedom and flexibility. Don’t get to an place where you want someone else to manage your business for you. Being your own boss in business is a no brainer.
